Who is Carney McKittrick?

I've been experimenting with identity since I was very young, trying on new names like they were slippers I might click to transform into the person I'm actually supposed to be. I demanded to go by Ruby in preschool, after Ruby the Copycat, ironically. After I watched The Little Mermaid, I told everyone my name was Ariel. When I got older, I loved wearing my partners' sports jerseys with their last names on the back. I even got married (briefly) to see if changing my name would really change ME. It did, but that's its own horror novel.

When I started embracing my identity as a weirdo who grew up in an amusement park, a voyeur attracted to strange things, a connoisseur of the unusual - I found that, at my core, I am and always will be a Carney.
